Formerly I was a teacher, supervisor and consultant for Lifespan Integration, currently widely used as a therapy modality in the U.S. and across the world.  I have also been the coordinator of Stopping The Violence Program in Vancouver Canada, for female victims of domestic violence (and financial abuse).  As a clinician for Wellspring Family Services, I was a clinician as well as a supervisor to the clinical staff treating cross-cultural couples at the agency. I have worked with the full spectrum of mental illness, substance abuse, and with cancer survivors and their families. The mission of my work has been and will ever be to promote healing for people who suffer from trauma, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders and somatoform disorders using my clinical skills through the healing power of a loving attachment relationship with my clients in the here and now.

 

Desmond Holiday is my friend and mentor. She has such an immediate grasp of the reality of the situation her client describes followed by total acceptance without judgement or agenda. Most of the time and energy we use as human beings to power struggle against our reality in favor of our desire, is then saved and rerouted in the pursuit of real, congruent, healthy, and functional solutions towards the issue at hand.

 

Des has tremendous emotional intelligence and added to that her incredible ability to not pass judgement, take in a situation and apply equal doses of compassion, wisdom, humor (as needed) and a vast love for the client, as unconditional as I will ever live to see.

 

She is a light that makes you want to move closer towards yourself. A light that helps you be more attracted to yourself. A light that dissolves fears, judgment and expectation. A light of attunement.

 

When I refer a client to Des I do so with utmost confidence and trust.  She will listen with care and curiosity. She fully trusts her own intuition.

She sees much more than she passes on at first.

However, I know and have seen that in time she will titrate her observations so that they can be metabolized by her client to maximum effect.

Titration is a very important element of wellness coaching and knowing how much to share and how much to hold on to for the client until they are ready to receive it without being blown away, is a gift of her abilities to read her client well and her incredible capacity for timing.

Des will use her client’s wisdom and will identify it to them.

She will help her client to begin to trust themselves and their own visceral wisdom and knowing. She celebrates intuition and helps clients to make it a conscious process.

 

What Des does for her clients is above and beyond her title of “Life Coach”. Since the essence that she brings in to her client is too elusive to describe without giving short shrift to it, I suffice it by calling it “life/wellness coaching” on paper. I find that much of the way she facilitates healing for her clients is her own embodiment of joy and her own way of being in the world combined with her innate wisdom that she shares with true generosity to promote healing.

 

I can’t say enough about how impactful Des is with her clients but I trust that you have by now picked up on my boundless enthusiasm and respect towards her and her work with clients.
